More about our materials
Our materials
Needless to say, all of us at Boob show consideration for the environment and future generations in all aspects of our work. Our ambition is to use materials that are as eco-friendly as possible in our garments.
Here you can read more about the materials we use in our collections. Our aim is to inspire you, as a customer, to make the best eco-choices when buying your clothes.
Cotton
Cotton is a natural fibre that comes from the cotton plant. It is a soft fabric that breathes and is comfortable against the skin.
Cotton is durable and can be washed and worn without losing its character. However, coloured cotton garments are not as colour-fast as e.g. synthetic fabrics. We recommend turning your cotton garments inside out before washing and to use detergents sparingly.
Organic cotton
Organic cotton has the same properties as conventional cotton, but cultivation is based on long-term, sustainable and resource-saving production systems.
Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilisers, which is better for the health of the cottonfarmer as well as the environment.
We use chiefly organic cotton in our collections, but we still have a few items that are made wholly or partly from non-organic cotton. Our goal is to replace the fabric in these garments with more eco-friendly materials.
Denim
Denim is rugged cotton twill. The weave allows it to stretch a little when worn so that it fits your body. Denim fades naturally and gradually. Denim can lose colour and discolour even when completely dry, so care must be taken when wearing light colours together with jeans.
Elastane
Elastane is a synthetic fibre with exceptional elasticity, allowing it to regain its original shape. To keep the elasticity, the fibre must not be subject to high temperatures. It is important to follow the washing instructions and to avoid drying or ironing at high temperatures.
Spandex and Lycra are trade names for the elastane fibre.
Fleece
The fleece we use in our collection is made from recycled plastic bottles - a good way of using waste and saving natural resources. Fleece is a soft, light, warming fabric. It is hard-wearing and can be washed without losing shape or colour.
Lyocell
Lyocell is an artificial fibre made from cellulose, the main constituent in plant cells.
The fibre production process is eco-friendly compared to the production of modal and viscose which uses environmentally harmful chemicals such as caustic soda, carbon disulfide and sulphuric acid.
Lyocell is a textile that breathes and is soft and comfortable. It hangs elegantly and has a beautiful lustre. Lyocell is highly washable with little risk of shrinking.
Modal
Modal is an artificial fibre made from cellulose, the main constituent in plant cells. Modal is closely related to viscose when it comes to production method and some characteristics. Modal is a soft and comfortable textile that breathes, is comfortable to wear and has a beautiful lustre.
Viscose
Viscose is an artificial fibre made from cellulose, the main constituent in plant cells.
Viscose is a textile that breathes, has hangs elegantly and has a beautiful lustre. The fabric is colour-fast, but needs careful handling when wet as minor shrinkage may occur and the material becomes stiff and brittle when wet. Viscose also has a tendency to pill, so avoid things that can rub against the garment such as a handbag.
OEKO-Tex100
All materials in our collection, except for the material in our woven pants, are certified with the OEKO-Tex Standard 100. This certification is a guarantee that our garments are completely free from toxins that are known to be harmful to humans. For our customers it is a guarantee that the clothes can be safely worn next to the skin.
